When I found that over time I’d written a number of songs about, well… crime and punishment, it made sense to collect some of them into one album. Mostly they’re written and sung from the point of view of the criminal. These are dark tales.

Somehow We Survived

‘Somehow We Survived’ was released during the pandemic of the early 2020s. Though when I was writing the title song I was thinking more of the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and beyond, it seemed to fit more recent times too. A lot of great musicians helped out on this album!

Tony Conniff & Band came together in 2010 at an NYC club called 78Below. This album, our first, featured only the band. The basic tracks, most of the vocals, and many of the solos were recorded live in two days at One East Recording.
