Workshops
I conduct small-group workshops, one session a week for 5 weeks. Most concentrate on Songwriting; some are focused on helping songwriters improve the crucial skills of Recording & Production.
One-On-One
I work one-on-one in all the areas listed on this page with Songwriters and Producers from all over the world. It’s a great way to go if the workshop schedules aren’t convenient for you or if you just prefer learning this way.
Workshops
(on Zoom for now)
- Songwriting Workshops – In regularly scheduled 5 week Songwriting Workshops, small groups of songwriters allow for individual focus and personalized attention. Sometimes these have a ‘special focus’, such as on contemporary songwriting.
- Production for Songwriters – This workshop helps songwriters develop skills that are critical in making professional recordings of their songs. Topics explored include the basics of recording and mixing, how to use the most common effects (such as reverb, delay, EQ, compression), as well as the importance of arranging choices. The techniques explored here are applicable to any recording platform (Logic, ProTools, Garageband, Ableton, etc.) Also popular one-on-one.
- 20 Recording & Production Techniques – Nothing esoteric here; just 20 straightforward methods that I demonstrate that can be put into practice right away to improve the sound and arrangements of your recordings, no matter how simple or complex they are. One 3 hour class.
- Logic or Garageband – Introduction & Intermediate – These classes provide a comprehensive overview of Apple’s LogicPro and Garageband recording software. Also popular one-on-one.
Workshops and Events that will return after the pandemic:
- ‘Record Your Song!’ workshop – You will emerge from this new 5-week workshop with a professional recording of one of your songs, produced by me. The process will consist of 3 group meetings to workshop your song and the progress of your recording, plus 2 individual 3-hour sessions where I will (with your participation) produce, record, and mix your song.
- Not only can each member of the group choose to participate actively (or not) in creating their own recording – you’ll have the opportunity to learn from the other songwriters’ processes as well. No prior recording experience is necessary.
- During the pandemic this is recommended as a one-on-one workshop. Contact Tony for details. You can also hire me to produce your song(s) individually.
NY Songwriting Day
The first five Songwriting Days were attended by capacity crowds. Look for NY Songwriting Day to return as soon as it’s safe.

of upcoming workshops and events.
“Tony gives a writer the most important tool they could ever need – a deadline. The fact that he also does it with encouragement, great song intuition, warm openness to all styles and levels, and ‘meeting you where you’re at’ appreciation makes his workshops invaluable. Tony got me writing and writing well again after years of stagnation, and I can’t thank him enough.”
“Tony has expertly tutored me 1 on 1 with Mac based DAWs (LogicProX & Garageband). He’s a skilled audio engineer & music producer. Last but certainly not least… It’s evident that Tony’s ears have heard a LOT of notes… from Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Indie, Rock & Classic American Songbook styles. Tony really knows his music.”
“Tony was incredibly helpful in helping me focus my songs. He has a keen ability to hear just what a song needs, and I’d often leave his workshops feeling like, “I know what to do now!” I also loved the small group setting of his workshops. I even made a few new friends!”
