Thanks for reading and writing. I intentionally didn&#039;t get into particular writers and artists because I&#039;m not discussing what&#039;s best and worst here, but rather just what IS, in practically every modern pop song (not all). 
There are good and bad, but these changes are happening, in the same way 4 bar phrases happened, AABA happened, Verse/Chorus songs happened... It&#039;s just, in a very broad way, the way people write at a particular time.
So my suggestion is to just turn on any mainstream pop station. Most of it will not be particularly good (as has usually been the case), but you will hear the above &#039;trends&#039; everywhere. And. when you hear them used well, it can be an eye-opener. 
Things have changed!
