Listening to the song more closely and following along with the help of Tony’s guide notes, it struck me that without announcing it expressly, Freddy moves from describing his lead singer role in Queen in the verses (‘I’), where the production is basically solo and piano-based, to talking about the whole band in the chorus (‘WE’), and that’s where the band kicks in with full force. Then of course, once he’s singing ‘WE’, the fans can sing along too, so embracing them into the song too. What do you guys think?

Hi Tony, I love your analysis. One obvious advantage to leaving out ‘Of The World’, is that there is a thrilling sense of it left hanging in the air on a sus chord (a bit like the end of Hard Days Night), plus even better, it means the song ends on the title!

Just a guess but… in my experience these kind of things often happen when someone accidentally leaves something out, or stops early or late for another reason, and someone else says, “That mistake sounds cool; let’s leave it that way!” And enough people (or the most important person) in the session agree…
These kind of things are unexpected, so they grab the listener’s attention… which, generally speaking, is good.
