Thanks for sharing that. It got me out of my funk. I will start writing again tomorrow after my Earl Gray tea.

Wow, really trying to write everyday & just got hit w/some really hard stuff. I feel numb & planned on stay there for a bit. I was drawn to reading through some stuff before going to bed too early and read this & it’s so great! Yes. I need to wake up early, have my Earl Grey and put my fingers to the keys. I have been taking classes, want it to be my second career, have a head full of words & a life that deserves to be written. Being stopped by tragedy & moping is giving up. I am a warrior and can type like one. Thank you so much for the glass of cold water in my face! Much love to you.

I think Didion is pretty unusual in her ability to keep churning through it all; to not have to lie down on the canvas for a long while after a knockout punch.
I certainly didn’t write this to make any of us feel bad that we’re not as dogged or undeterred as she is (or was).
Everyone keeps it together in our own way, as best we can.
But she is an inspiration in terms of productivity.
It all counts!
